COLLECTIVE

& ASSOCIATION

The DIPHTHONG collective explores and unmasks social dynamics – especially those that hinder meaningful human connection. Through its documentary and interdisciplinary projects, the collective examines and exposes mechanisms of exclusion and fragmentation within society.

Background

The nationally and internationally active collective was founded in 2016 by the artist duo Nikos Konstantakis (actor, dancer and sociologist) and Stephanie Felber (choreographer, photo and video artist).

Whether installation, dance performance or theatre production – their work always centres on exploring the (im)possibilities of social participation and self-determination, and on reflecting the multi-perspectivity of social processes.

To open up new forms of access, they deliberately disrupt habitual modes of perception, consult everyday experts, and occasionally hand over the stage to non-human entities. In doing so, the DIPHTHONG collective translates academic discourse into an aesthetic language of form.

Since 2022, the collective has operated under the umbrella of DIPHTHONG.art e.V. For its various projects, it collaborates with an interdisciplinary team of artists from a range of backgrounds.

#STUDIO

Since 2017, DIPHTHONG has been realising theatre and dance productions in collaboration with professionals and theatre-enthusiastic non-professionals. Under the label #STUDIO, we promote this area of work and are currently establishing a new semi-professional theatre company through a series of acting courses.

We share our tools and professional expertise, offering seminars and acting classes for participants aged 16 to 99. The collective is currently developing a training and continuing education programme aimed at making acting techniques applicable in everyday and professional contexts.

The programme will launch in 2024 with a foundation course; further dates and modules will be announced throughout the year. Both beginners and experienced members of theatre groups are welcome to take part.
