The DIPHTHONG collective explores and unmasks dynamics within society.
In particular, the dynamics that lead to the prevention of interpersonal encounters are investigated and revealed through the documentary and interdisciplinary work.
Background
The nationally and internationally active collective was founded in 2016 by the artist duo Nikos Konstantakis (actor, dancer and sociologist) and Stephanie Felber (choreographer, photo and video artist). Whether installation, dance performance or theatre piece – the two artists are always interested in shedding light on the (im)possibilities of social participation in self-determination and depicting the multi-perspectivity of social processes. In order to open up new approaches, they break with perceptual habits, question everyday experts and sometimes leave the playing field to entities other than people. In this way, the DIPHTHONG collective translates scientific discourse into an aesthetic formal language. Since 2022, the project organiser has been DIPHTHONG.art e.V. For the various projects, the collective works together with a cross-disciplinary team of different artists.

#STUDIO
DIPHTHONG has been realising theatre and dance productions in cooperation with professionals and amateurs interested in theatre since 2017. We promote this area under the #STUDIO label and are also founding a new semi-professional theatre company through acting courses. We share our tools and professional expertise and offer seminars and acting courses for amateurs aged between 16 and 99. The collective is currently developing a training and further education programme to make acting methods applicable in everyday and professional situations. The programme will begin in 2024 with the basic course; further dates and offers will be announced in the course of the year. Both beginners and experienced theatre group members can take part.
