Our identity is the result of a constantly balanced interplay between self-knowledge and self-design. We can only influence a small part of the image we have of ourselves and how we are perceived by others.

Where do we belong? What do we separate ourselves from? Which parts of our identity do we want or need to hide? Which ones do we want to show in a different light? And how can we fill the gaps that constantly arise as a result? The characters in the theatre performance ‘The Blind Spot’ are confronted with these and other questions as they try in different ways to reconstruct the culture and history of a strange forgotten people for a museum exhibition from random excavation finds.

‘Der Blinde Fleck’ is a production of DIPHTHONG.art e.V. in co-production with the Orangerie Theatre Cologne and the Theatre Academy Cologne.

Supported by the Cultural Office of the City of Cologne, the NRW State Office for Independent Performing Arts – FOCUS Ukrainian Artists and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The collaboration with the Ukrainian director Switlana Pasitschynk is a continuation of the three-month sponsorship by the Kulturrat NRW.
